Australia’s ACMA Blacklists 8 More Online Betting Sites

19 Aug 2020

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has instructed every internet service provider within the country to bar eight offshore gambling sites because of highly illegal practices. The operators that have officially been blacklisted from the Australian market are:

  • Ace Pokies
  • Planet 7 Oz
  • Enzo Casino
  • Time Square Casino
  • Spintropolis
  • Nordicasino
  • Reeltastic

This decision was reached by the Communications Authority after the body received numerous protests from players about the unfriendly and deceitful business operations of the casino sites. Amongst the many complaints, there are withholding of player cash winnings and poor treatment of players on the platforms. After receiving the grievances, the watchdog did a series of probes from which later proved that the sites’ services were operating in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

Part of the mandate of the ACMA in Australia is to request any Internet Service Providers (ISPs) within the Australian territory to bar any sites that are deemed unfit for not meeting specific standards. Such actions are made to help protect Australian punters against illegal online betting and platforms with predatory business models. To date, the supervisory body has blacklisted and effectively blocked 92 fraudulent betting sites from the Australian market since November 2019.

All the players registered with these websites have been informed to withdraw their money right away and to refrain from participating on the said platforms with immediate effect. Since the watchdog began imposing new offshore betting regulations in 2017, more than 100 dishonest online gaming service providers have been forced out of the Australian betting market.
