New Online Gambling Market Record Set By Portugal In Q1

As of now, a new gaming record has been set in the online gambling market. Recorded revenue data has been gained, showcasing a massive 47.3 million Euros in Portugal’s regulated online gambling market. This has occurred during the first few months of the year, as the establishments have grown significantly every year for sports betting gambling casinos.

This is the highest recorded profit since the country first began launching online gambling back in May 2016. The official reports were released by the national regulating service, Serviço Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos do Turismo de Portugal (SRIJ). The total increase was calculated at around 43.8% during the first months of the 2018 year.

The main source of income that added to this statistic was the success of Sports Betting. The ten electronic gaming licences were able to pinpoint an increase of up to 42.5% with a total of over 24.8 million Euros from this area alone. Football was the leading sport in this form of entertainment, with gambling occurring up to 72.7% for all forms of sports betting.

Online casinos have made some lead way in online gambling market with punters wagering a grand total of 608.6 million Euros within the first quarter of the year. Operators were able to contribute to this with a total profit of 22.6 million Euros. That is a total increase of 45.9%.

With more money comes more players. The SRIJ has also been able to pinpoint a rise in recent registrations for their online establishments as well. The total number of customers has now reached up to 125,200 with all registered accounts. This was an increase of 89,500 compared to the number from last year. Thanks to the network of more licensing companies, players could see the more legitimate business in the world of online gambling and as such resorted to where the safe, but fun events can be found.
