West Virginia to Offer Online Gambling with DraftKings Launch

17 Jul 2020

Renowned online casino gambling services provider DraftKings has officially rolled out its online casino products in West Virginia State, making it the fourth U.S. state to offer online casino gambling services. WV players can now legally participate in online casino gambling, joining Delaware, Pennsylvania, and NJ players as more states in the US set their eyes on legalizing gambling.

Following the legalization of sports betting in the state plus the launch of online casino gambling, West Virginia has made massive progress when it comes to fulfilling the agenda of having a say gaming industry in the US. Last year in March, the Mountain State lawmakers endorsed the WV Lottery Interactive Wagering Act, to officially make interactive gambling sites for casino games and poker legal.

Since the ratification of gambling products, West Virginia proceeded according to the plan to draw emergency guidelines for the gambling industry, and it has now effectively rolled out online casino services. Each of the WV’s land-based casinos will act as a primary licensee for internet gambling.

The DFS operator now becomes the very first operator to offer its online casino content in West Virginia, following the release of its mobile app for Android and iOS devices. DraftKings will use a single casino API to offer casino services in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey states. The operator’s casino product is combined into the operator’s sports betting app.

Despite a partnership involving DraftKings and Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino, Penn Casino will not be able to use its Barstool brand for online gambling in the state.
